Beyoncé: Life Is But A Dream

I tuned in like many others for the premiere of Beyoncé's documentary film: Life Is But A Dream. I have been overly excited about this film since I'd heard about it back in December 2012. Beyoncé is hands down my favorite artist and performer. Ever since I came to knowing who she was in Third grade I have been in 'aw' of her. I feel she is a great role model for young women. I say this because she is smart, knows what she wants, works hard, cares for others and most of all she is humble and grateful, which is astonishingly beautiful.

I loved her documentary film because you got to see the deeper side of Beyoncé that everyone can relate to. The story was well relayed and had a very organic natural essence about it. While watching this film I felt a great connection to what she was saying about life and it's blessings. Her message really empowered me to look at my own life and work to make changes where they are due and I am grateful for that.

Overall this film was very well done and it is a MUST SEE. Even if you are not a fan of her music there is something that everyone can take away from her documentary.
Thank you Beyonce!

Microdermabrasion

Definition: Microdermabrasion is a mechanical form of exfoliation that uses a powerful vacuum to spray microcrystals of aluminum dioxide across that skin's surface. This procedure removes the outermost layer of skin cells (part of the stratum corneum) and stimulates cell growth in the underlying dermis.

Use:
To diminish scars, acne scars, acne, stretch-marks, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores.

Nowadays many of us are trying to find ways to keep our skin looking young, healthy and have that natural glow. Besides the whole have a balanced diet, work out regularly, and drink plenty of water you can add microdermabrasion to your routine.

How you can add Microdermabrasion to your life
Pictures and Prices BELOW

(Rich way) Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic treatment in which the face is sprayed with exfoliant crystals to remove dead epidermal cells. On average this can cost $152 per treatment.

(Moderate way) You can buy scrubs $16.00, at home kits $20.00-$200.00

(Affordable way) Using the fine crystals of baking soda to remove dead epidermal cells.
Mix 3 parts Baking Soda (2-3 tbsp) $1-4 and 1 part water OR lemon juice (1 tbsp) $2-4.

I chose the more affordable way using baking soda and lemon juice.
  1. Because I am a college student
  2. Because it is more natural
  3. I use lemon juice instead of water because I have acne scars and the lemon juice helps lighten those areas.
What I do is wash my face, pat dry then apply the paste of baking soda and lemon juice. I lightly apply it in circles on my face and neck then let it sit for a little. Then rinse off. Make sure to rinse lightly like when using an exfoliate to prevent laceration (breaking) of the skin.
I do my microdermabrasion treat twice a week every Wednesday and Saturday. Everyone's skin is different so I advise you to start off with once a week to see how your skin reacts then choose what is best for you.

From left to right:

Personal Microdermabrasion
skincareheaven.com $179.00

Crystalift Microdermabrasion
Nordstrom.com $199.00

Neutrogena Microdermabrasion
drugstore, Walmart, etc. $18.00-$25.00

Derma E Microdermabrasion scrub
drvita.com $16.08

Side note: Although at home electric face brushes like the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion are nice. The keep up is what gets expensive (buying new brush heads). You have to make sure that you are not over using a brush because bacteria easily grows and you do not want to be bushing that on your face.
