Love and War

I Love Tamar Braxton's hit single Love and War. This song is a great anthem for relationships. It tells the truth. A relationship is not going to be all sunshine and rainbows; you will have to go through some hard times. But at the end of the day it is the True Love that keeps you together.

Now remember, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, and it does not physically harm.”

With that being said, I really like the message of the song, I Love Tamar’s voice in the song and the music video is perfectly intimate and helps relay what this song is all about. Check It Out below.

I am glad to see Tamar out and doing her thing and I hope she has a prosperous solo career. I feel she deserves it and I respect that she is sharing her talent with us again.

Golden Globes Fashion

I Love this time of year because it is awards season that means a lot of red carpet events and fashion. Last night Sunday, January 13, 2013 was the 70th annual Golden Globes awards ceremony.

My Top Looks:

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu
This dress was perfect for Kerry. It was unique, sparkly, sexy and classy all at the same time, and I love the sleek straight hair. 10s across the board with this one!

Katherine McPhee in Theysken's Theory
Some may think that a plunging neckline is too much for this event, but this dress fits Katherine like a glove and her tailored yet messy bun was great as well.

Nicole Richie in  Naeem Khan
What an entrance Nicole made when she stepped on to the red carpet. Her team did everything right for this event. This is a great color on her. The dress was elegant and her Retro Romantic hair topped it all off.

Black was very popular

Sofia Vergara: Michael Cinco
Kate Hudson: Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
Nicole Kidman: Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
Eva Longoria:  custom Pucci
Kristin Wig: Michael Kors

Dark Lip trend

Jessica Chastain: Zero Dark Thirty
Ashlan Gorse: E News
Sara Hyland: Modern Family
Giuliana Rancic: E News

Looks I did not like:

 Alyssa Milano in Ports 1961
I don't like the color on her, the dress does not fit her well and fabric wrinkled easily. She is a beautiful woman, but this dress just was not working.

Lea Michele in Elie Saab
Very pretty dress, she was just TOO TAN!

 Lena Dunham is Zac Posen
I Love the dark plum/eggplant color. But the dress did not fit her and was too big at the bottom which made it hard for her to walk along with the heels that were hurting her feet.

Jessica Chastain in Calvin Klein
The dress is pretty and light. It just was not right for her boobs. She was taped in very well, but I feel "they" were a distraction.

Zoey Dechanel in Oscar de la Renta
Pretty dress, but she always looks the same. This look was predictable, she should change it up.

There you have it, my take on the Golden Globes Fashion.

Until the Oscars. Amor- Trinity Renée

There is nothing wrong with being sexy!

Beyonce is GQ Magazine's February 2013 cover girl!

There has already been a lot of talk about GQ's new cover girl. The internet is raving with positivity and bashing with negativity about Queen B's new cover.

All I have to say is that I LOVE the cover. I think it shows off her confident and powerful beauty. People act like sexiness should not be shown to the world, it is perfectly okay to be sexy. There is a difference between classy and tasteful than raunchy and pornographic.  If you want to show off what 'yo mama gave ya' then do so. We all know that people are going to have something to say whether it is good or bad. Your job it to be comfortable within your self and not care about what others have to say. Beyonce is a grown WOMAN and can dress how she pleases. As a young women I feel empowered when I see this picture. Maybe it is because I am a free spirited college arts student that likes to see the beauty in life....No that can not be it. But I really feel that we need to embrace our sexiness more to help build confidence and exert our beauty as women.

Emerald Is In

The color for 2013 is Emerald!

For get being Green with Envy, get Green with Fashion. Now green is one of those colors that people are afraid to wear. Maybe it is because they are afraid of looking like Barney or a character from Dragon Tales, who really knows. But green is lively and radiant and adds a nice pop of color, when done well.

Tips to adding green this year:
  • If you do not want to wear a large garment in green ie. tops and bottoms. You can make it your accent color with shoes, a purse and other accessories or your nail polish color.
  • You can put up art canvas with green in it.
  • Add some green to your kitchen whether it be plants or mugs and plates

Step outside your comfort zone and Be Green in 2013!

Take the time to Breathe

As a Dance Major in college my life is nonstop Physically. I am in dance class for three hours,  I have school right after,on most days I am not out until 6pm and sometimes I may have a three hour rehearsal after school and on top of that I still have homework and a social life. With a schedule that is physically draining it is easy to get overwhelmed and become detached.
My first semester as a college freshman was very stressful because I was doing all of that and not really taking care of my body. Around November 2012 I started to take time out for myself every morning and evening to just breath. I would turn on my relaxation music and lie down on my yoga mat in my room with the lights off. During this time I would take deep breaths in and out of my nose (nostril breathing) then in through my nose and out of mouth. I would repeatedly do this exercises in different body positions that felt good to me.
After a few days of doing deep breath exercises I noticed a change in my body and attitude. I woke up in the morning less tense and I had a good attitude through out the day. Most of all I was less stressed and my mind felt clear and organized.
I recommend everyone to find time in their day to do deep breathing exercises. Whether is be for 10-15 minutes or even and hour. It all depends on what you feel you need that day.
Here are some of the benefits deep breathing will do for you:
· Purifies the bloodstream, allowing a detoxification to take place in the body.
· More efficient digestion due to increased oxygen reaching the stomach.
· Improved health of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves due to increased oxygen.
· Skin becomes smoother and healthier with a reduction in facial wrinkles.
· Healthier more powerful lungs, increasing stamina.
· Rejuvenates glands in the body including pituitary and pineal glands.
· Allows heart to last longer and work more efficiently.
· Fights against heart disease by providing extra oxygen to your heart's tissues.
· Relaxes mind and body without inducing tiredness. You feel relaxed and energized at the same time.
· Releases tension and reduces stress.
Poses you can do:
  • Simply lying on your back with bent or straight legs
  • Childs Pose
  • Fetal position
  • Butterfly

Finding music for Zen and Meditation:
Here is an example from YouTube. It is almost 2 hours of music that I would let play during my workout. That way I do not have to worry about making a playlist.
  • Buy a CD (Target, Amazon, Ebay etc.)
  • Search iTunes selection
  • YouTube is always great for finding music and you can turn those videos into an mp3 and save them to the device of your choice.
There are many different styles of Zen Relaxation music like the harp style or the more upbeat style. I advise that you adventure around and see what you like.

Something so simple as taking the time to breathe can really make a healthy impact on your lifestyle.

Positive Gain

Tomorrow, January 2,2013 is the annual Special K® 'Gain Day.' A day dedicated to empower women everywhere to weigh themselves and to not focus on what they want to lose, but what they want to gain.

I love the concept of this campaign because it is giving light to what is more important. We live in a very appearance forward culture. You are too big, small, short, tall, dark and it goes on and on. There are too many images and people telling us what we should look like instead of praising us for what we were given.

As a young woman in this world I have had my struggles with appearance issues. It is hard, but I am growing everyday towards loving and accepting myself for who I Am. To be at war with yourself is a battle that is not worth fighting for. And I feel it is my duty to help other women realize their self-worth as well.

We should not have a phobia of getting on the scale because we are scared of the number that will flash back at us. I commend Special K® and others like Tyra Banks for taking a stand against this issue and working hard to help empower women. Being healthy and looking good should  not be all about the numbers. We should be more focused on what we can gain like happiness, confidence, energy, joy and drive.
